SOC
Code Definitions
|
The Standard Occupational
Classification (SOC) coding structure is now used in place of the previously
utilized Occupational Employment Statistics (OES) coding system. This
means that many of the occupational titles are different than before,
but it also means that there will be more up-to-date occupational titles
included such as different levels of computer programmers and software
engineers.
More information on the SOC taxonomy is available at the following Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) Web sites: http://stats.bls.gov/soc/socguide.htm. You may contact your Local Labor Market Economist to get help with finding SOC occupational titles for previously used OES occupational titles. You can locate contact information for your Local Labor Market Economist through the following Web address: http://lmi.ides.state.il.us/perassis.htm.
