The main objective of this research
is to study the transition of recently
discharged Illinois veterans from
military discharge to stable civilian
employment. A better understanding
of this transition would allow a more
efficient utilization of available
resources to better serve the veteran
population.
Illinois Green Jobs Survey -
The objectives
of the The Illinois Green Jobs survey were to: 1) estimate the
number of “green jobs” in Illinois; 2)
determine the type of skills required
by green jobs, in general; 3) identify
the type of training necessary to obtain
these skills; and 4) ascertain which
skills are in demand, yet lacking by the
current labor force.
Kids and Careers: How Families Can Help Youth
Succeed -
This informational brochure contains helpful ideas for parents to aid their
child with the transition between high school and higher education or entering
the workforce. Information includes Three Easy Steps to a Career Plan, Important
Targets for Parents and Students, Best Bet Occupations, useful charts and
graphs, as well as a list of further resources to continue the exploration
of career opportunities.
Summer Job Central 2011 -
Summer Job Central 2011 is a seasonal brochure that provides information for
young people looking for seasonal employment. It includes links to resources,
Web sites with summer job listings, and a parents’ guide to summer work.
An Examination of the High Unemployment Rate for
Young Veterans -
The information compiled in this study provides a reasonable explanation for
the high unemployment rate of veterans in the 20-24 age group relative to
young non-veterans.

and easily obtainable licensure information. It has been developed to provide
information about occupations that are regulated in some way by the many state
boards, commissions, and agencies. In addition, it is designed to be a helpful
tool for individuals making career decisions: students, counselors, educational
training program planners and administrators, economic development professionals,
employers, and policy-making bodies.

Job Vacancy Survey -
The purpose of this project is to
design, conduct, compile, and analyze a regional Job Vacancy Survey (JVS)
of selected industries for the Workforce Boards of Metropolitan Chicago (WBMC).
Staff from the Economic Information and Analysis (EI&A) Division of the
Illinois Department of Employment Security (IDES) worked closely with representatives
from WBMC to identify the targeted industries, finalize the JVS survey instrument
and specify the methodology for identifying employers to be surveyed.
